Considering three different objects found in typical convenient stores, “Shopping basket – Plastic cups – Lollipop stand” were used as the mediator between the customers and retails. Even though those items commonly exist in the stores but none of the above are brought out once because their duty has ended there. This project focuses on envisioning the opportunity of turning those non-purchasing items into an acquirable one.

Introducing the first object, the stackable shopping basket as an initial item the customer first notices when entering the store by its distinguished color and check pattern. One of the interesting characteristics of these plastic baskets are the “handles” for grabbing or hanging, are installed with reversible joints and can be folded adjacent to the basket body in order to stack as much as possible and distribute to serve customers' needs.

Designers explored the possible solution for the “handle” alternative function, later on, after several experiments came to the conclusion of reform the “handle” to “leg-stand” while the purpose of stacking yet remained. And instead of minimizing the space by staking the basket, designers maximized its utilities by creating the ‘space’
The second object is the row of plastic cups and its holder. Some people may reuse this kind of cup by turning it into a stationary holder, plant pot, or ingredient container. Cone-shaped plastic cups with broad edges on the top for drinking and narrow down to the bottom designed for tightly grabbing and stack easily. These may affect the shape of the holder installed on the counter. A rounded shape plate is covered around it in order to firmly hold the cup when users grab one cup and avoid extra-cup pop out.

From the convenience store’s standard cup shape, designers combine two elements of the plastic cover plate and a cup to create stackable units. One typical cup contains linear objects such as pencil, rural, and scissors while another one is attached with an extension ring on the top to place small items such as paper clips, erasers, or notes. Wood was chosen as a material to renew the character of the plastic cup.

Last but not least, the Chupa Chups stand, situated on the cashier counter before check out, and those lollipops are swiftly snatched without second thoughts because of its tiny shape and allure colors.
Designers explore the opposite behavior rather than quick decisions to focus and concentrate on activities like a flower arrangement. From each layer of lollipop plate holder, designers adapt those holes into flower holders for every single branch, also the plate can be rotated around its column adjustable according to the organic form of flowers and leaves. At the bottom, a wooden plate to water your flowers to keep it fresh.

With three approaches to those convenient objects, the transform maximized its utilities of each object. During the design experiment we found many possibilities and solutions that ensure the idea that if we keep asking and doubting, there are so many various challenges and potential ideas waiting for us to explore.
